Fire Rated Glass Products

In addition to traditional wired glass, Syracuse Glass Company stocks Fire Protective Rated Glazing materials that are impact safety rated.

Pilkington Pyroshield Plus is a 7/16” laminated wired glass product available in diamond and square pattern that carries a 16 CFR 1201 Category I safety rating.  Since the lamination provides the safety rating, this is a good cost-effective option where aggressive maintenance or vandalism is a concern, and where its 9 sq. ft. maximum size can be accommodated.  It is not allowed by code in gymnasiums or athletic centers, where Category II material is required.

Schott Pyran Star F is a 3/16” ceramic with a surface applied film that carries a Category II safety rating.  It has a slight bronze tinted appearance which compares favorably to competing “premium” ceramic products – at a “standard” price level!   This is our least costly Category II product.  We carry a non-filmed non-safety rated product to match for locations where human impact is not a concern – Schott Pyran Star.

Schott Pyran Star L is a 5/16” laminated ceramic that carries a Category II safety rating,

These products have fire ratings from 20 to 90 minutes depending on size and installation location.
