Fire Rated Glass Products
Syracuse Glass Company stocks Fire Protection Rated Glazing Materials that are impact safety rated to comply with code requirements yet thin enough to be glazed in standard fire rated framing systems.
Syracuse Glass is a distributor of Schott Pyran Platinum products - The newest ultra-clear fire rated ceramics on the market. No Wires! No Orange Tint! No Rough Surface! No extended lead times! And no cross-continental freight cost. Additionally, Schott Pyran Platinum products are cradle-to-cradle silver level certified as environmentally friendly.
Schott Pyran Platinum F is a 3/16" ceramic with a surface applied film that carries a Category II safety rating.
The surface applied film is durable, but abrasive materials or sharp objects will scratch it.
Schott Pyran Platinum L is a 5/16” laminated ceramic that carries a Category II safety rating. Since the lamination provides the safety function, this premium product has surfaces as durable as other glass products.
Schott Pyran Platinum is a 3/16” ceramic without an impact safety rating for use where human impact is not a concern.
These products have fire ratings from 20 to 180 minutes depending on size and installation location. Pyran F and L can be used in temperature rise doors in small sizes.
All our Schott fire rated glass products are permanently marked under a UL supervised labeling program.
Additionally, Syracuse Glass inventories, cuts, and labels 5/16" CGI Pyroguard - a 20 minute rated clear laminated product with a category I safety glazing rating.
1/4" Polished Wired Glass is available with a Diamond or Square wire pattern. Wired Glass is not a safety glazing material. The Safety Glazing Section of the building code of NYS 2010 no longer contains an exemption to allow polished wire glass in code defined hazardous locations (Doors, Sidelites, etc.) All glass installed in fire rated doors or other locations defined as hazardous by the code must be safety rated
Syracuse Glass Co. can label wired glass for its fire rating upon request.
None of our fire rated products are heat barrier tested to ASTM E-119, so they are not intended for fire rated wall applications where radiant heat transfer is a concern.
